I enriched my skills, broadened my knowledge and gained an intriguing, almost cinematic gameplay, thanks to the production of The Pride of Taern. Usually in the first moment I pay attention to the music, because it makes me want to immediately go to another virtual world, or in my head comes the reaction "wow". However it may sound, the mood created by the music in this game accompanies me from the trailer to the subsequent fights. The musical setting definitely makes me want to stay longer in the magical world of the so far peaceful kingdom of Taern.
Fantasy – maybe for me?
Fantasy themes have never been particularly close to me. I definitely prefer other atmospheres, but here I don't have the impression of being in a typical, "unreal" world. The first impression is a feeling as if I was in the cinema. On the big screen, a short introductory series that promises quite a challenge, a story, an adventure and that mysterious note that I am about to find out myself. Even though it's a fantasy genre, I can still feel the whiff of a good cinematic thriller on my back, combined with fantasy world elements and interesting details, just like in the most modern productions.
The Kingdom of Taern, ruled by the Utor Empire, is not as peaceful, beautiful and picturesque as it could be expected according to the previews. Fairy tale turns into a small nightmare of local people, who forced to flee from a place marked by bloody conquests, in a distant place starts a new life. And will you be able to return to the lost paradise Taern? And here a lot lies in the hands, or rather the skills of my character. heroines. But one by one.
The first cats behind the fence
I'm greeted by the standard necessity of creating my own character. Of the productions I've had a chance to experience so far, however, here I see definitely more possibilities. I choose the voodoo class, although there are six more to choose from: barbarian, knight, sheed, archer, fire mage and druid. I specify the gender and the appearance, and with the latter begins one of my favorite games, on which I spend a little longer. Apart from choosing the shape of my eyebrows, nose, eyes and the like, I can even smoothly adjust the power to the color of my hair, which I had previously adjusted for my fairy tale heroine. Perhaps for other players it's no fun, and maybe even a waste of time so much to choose only the visual effect? It suits me and I give a plus, and even a big, clear "like".
Next comes the distribution of points to individual attributes, namely strength, dexterity, knowledge, power, life points, mana and stamina. The more experience, collected points, won fights and defeated opponents, the more fun it will be and of course the higher levels will be promoted.
Tutorial, as tutorials go. Quite good. A lot of options that are worth learning at the beginning, because fighting enemies is not as easy as it may seem. Each duel consists of rounds, between which I can plan or modify my actions within 10 seconds. And in this way I died once again. What remains the same, however, is the fact that with each successive quest I want to get closer and closer to victory. Finally defeat the opponent, preferably in the first round, for your own satisfaction and to push forward again.
Freedom and liberty
I like the combat mechanics, the subsequent tasks to complete and a lot of freedom, as for the game, its size and available options. Side quests also give you a lot of room for manoeuvre, and the available micropayments haven't bothered me so far, so I consider them neither a plus nor a minus. They just are. Whether I use it or not, it will not spoil my entertainment.
In terms of graphics, music, fluidity and general control in the game I can't have any complaints. There's everything I would look for in a game in a fantasy-based genre, which so far I haven't been close enough to play in such a constructed world.
Scenario, in which after killing my hero meets death and plays cards with her, makes The Pride of Taern a very interesting production for me. Unique and different from what I have encountered so far. It is undoubtedly interesting, original, many times dangerous. I must think, plan, fight and act in order to make the kingdom of Taern vibrant again. Who knows, maybe soon I will be able to defeat the Utorian enemies.
